A Day of Exhaustion and Quiet Purpose

Today was one of those days that leaves you physically drained, yet deeply fulfilled in a way that words can barely capture. We had a retreat with ACOM PHQ at TNK—a place of quiet beauty, owned by the sisters of the Anglican Church of Melanesia. The setting itself felt like a gentle invitation to pause, reflect, and realign. Even though the retreat came on short notice, it carried a clear purpose: to review ACOM’s workplace conduct. What could have been just another formal discussion turned into something more meaningful. There was a sense of sincerity in the conversations, and by the end of it, the outcome felt both successful and necessary. Looking back, the past few weeks have been full. We hosted visitors from New Zealand—members of ACOM’s management board—which added another layer of responsibility and expectation. I had submitted a report from my division and quietly assumed that would be enough, that perhaps my role in that space was minimal. But today reminded me that sometimes...

First Day Of Work : Visit To Dream Cast

Introduction

We took off at about 8am in the morning with all the children getting ready for school.

A daily routine for the kids ( my nieces and nephews) with lunch boxes for each packed with fruits as they hurriedly put in their back packs.

we dropped them off at Naha primary school, Florence young and me atlast at All Saints ( my new office to be) at 8:55 am.

Going in I was met by the Human Resource manager and the Technical coordinator with affirmation to formally kick off my official duties on Monday.

Thinking of what I would do next, I called my old time school mate who was an accountant by profession but follows his passion instead in photography and filming.

We met at Dream Cast Hub and had a good afternoon catchup with 2 cups of coffee each and some pancakes.

It is my first time to be introduced to this place.

It was my first time to be here and learn about this place. It was a semi-permanant building. A combination of modern and traditional leaf huts outside the decking for people with various artistic creations and colors on the concrete walls which I found very refreshing despite its rustic appearance.

The atmosphere inside was cool and airy. The surrounding area was full of shade from the plants and trees nearby compared to day's heat.

DC Hub was initially formed by Mr Neil C Nuia with a mission to have a space for all the Solomon Islands artists, musicians, theater performers, film makers and photographers to come together to learn and interact.

Membership

It is open for anyone under the above genre for membership, which is something I am currently considering. Membership cost is SBD$200 and you'll have below benefits.

Benefits of Membership

Free wifi,  space where one could go and spend time with other members or do his or her own content creation online or offline.

In addition there is also free power charging of laptops and phone during time there.

Reflection

Going home, I was thinking to myself how wonderful it is for someone to have created something like this, to encourage dreams and the work of artists in the Solomon Islands which often was overlooked by many.

I just hope and wish that many doors of opportunities will open for all our local artists at DC Hub in the near future as I believe in them and what they are doing and wish them the very best in their dreams.
